Miyazaki's manga adaptation focuses on Carius' fight against the Soviet army in Estonia and depicts all characters as pigs. The series is known by the subtitle "Mousou Nouto," meaning "Fantasy Note," depicting a wild or crazy delusion from the previous manga "Zassou Note," both published in the same venue (http://www.nausicaa.net).
